Thailand Part 2 – Phuket, Phi Phi and Krabi

Before I start this blog post I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who gave my previous Thailand post love. I’ve received so much feedback that I don’t really know what to do with it.

Anyway onto the islands!

To get from Bangkok to Phuket we decided to pay out and fly. Now we only did this because the price for a train down to the island and then a ferry actually worked out more expensive than a flight. This flight I must say had about 20 people on it, this means we could’ve each had a row to ourselves.

Phuket Part 1

We spent our time at Patong Beach, this is known as the party capital of Phuket Island. Why? Well because it has the famous Bangla road. We didn’t spend much time doing touristy stuff in Phuket, we drunk, went to the beach/stayed around the pool and repeat. We stayed at the fabulous Vibes Party Hostel, I’d 100% recommend this hostel if you are looking for a good time and want to meet other backpackers. The staff are like family and the guests are mental, it really is a party vibe. Excuse the pun.

We will leave phuket here because we actually came back for a few days before we flew to Cambodia.

Phi Phi Islands

Next we got a ferry to the Phi Phi Islands from Phuket, this will cost you 250-350 Baht. When you arrive just be aware that you have to pay a 20 Baht tourist fee as well.

PARADISE summed up in one word.

I must admit I prefered Koh Phi Phi during the day. It’s absolutely stunning. We spent most of our days swimming at Long beach. Went on a few boat tours of both islands, which included monkey beach and a beautiful cove.

However at night Koh Phi Phi turns into a party island to say the least. The is when most young people wake up and the night begins. Now for someone who doesn’t drink very much I was still in bed by 2am most nights but if you are a partier then Koh Phi Phi is for you – But be warned buckets are 400 baht and the island is very pricy.

As we arrived onto the island the first thing I noticed was the amount of diving schools. Of course this is a must for most people – including me. Or so I thought. I wasn’t allowed to go scuba diving because I’m on medication, this though didn’t stop me from going along and snorkeling.

We lazed around on Phi Phi for a week and then headed to Krabi.

Krabi

I must start of by saying I only went to the beach once in Krabi and felt like I could’ve done more adventurous stuff but we spent most of the time at the hostel drinking, meeting people and playing card games. I also got ill in Krabi so yay!

We stayed at Slumber party hostel in Ao Nang Beach. If you, again, are looking for a party hostel that is great for meeting new people then I’d highly recommend this hostel, the hostel again made you feel like family by the end.

So what did we do over the few days we were based in Krabi? Boat party via the hostel. This was a right laugh. The hostel boat party was joined by another boat party. We drunk all day, jumped off the boat and played drinking games. We also saw 10000s of jellyfish so just a heads up to be warned of this.

Secondly, we were in Krabi for St Paddy’s day! To celebrate we went on a bar crawl with the second slumber party hostel. I only lasted until the second hostel because for a first I drank way to much at the start of the evening and was done in by 11pm. I should put a disclaimer in here that it was due to buckets – BUCKETS ARE DEADLY PEOPLE.

Phuket Part 2

After spending way to much time drinking it was time to head back to Phuket for a few days before our flight to Cambodia. I won’t like we just sat around the pool and drunk and slept for most of the time. There again wasn’t much sightseeing, however I did meet the nicest couple who were backpacking and we went to a brewery and an irish pub. We played pool three times and I won all three times … muwahaha!

Our flight to Cambodia was at 6am so we had to stay up the night before and get to the airport at 4am. It takes about an hour to travel the length of Phuket’s island so keep that in mind. This meant we had to get a taxi at 2am – Effort!

And that ladies and gentlemen was the islands of Thailand for me!
